It’s 2024 and times have changed. Remember when we were limited to mainly broccoli, carrots and celery sticks or when McDonald’s was luxury experience. Nowadays these kids eat steak, sushi, salmon and calamari. If you’re try to give them the same options we had for healthy foods and it’s not working in your favor, you might want to think out the basic vegetable platter box. Below is a list of healthy foods that kids of this generation are more likely to not only eat but actually love.
Brussel Sprouts:
It’s something about the texture and taste of brussels sprouts that kids tend to love. They’re crispy yet still soft and they almost always have a moist feel and flavor, making it a kid approved favorite. On top of that it pairs well with most lunch and dinner meal options.
Sweet Potatoes:
There are several ways to make and prepare sweet potatoes but chances are that if they are on the sweeter side, your kids are more likely to eat them. A popular kid friendly way to prepare them is to toss them with maple syrup, olive oil and a bit of maple syrup.
Cauliflower:
Kids love cauliflower. It’s all about how you season it and prepare it. You can make cauliflower rice, cauliflower wings or pair it with a fish dinner. You can also mix in everything together and create a rice bowl.
Cuties:
Back in my day they were just oranges or tangerines but something about the cuties just make them taste better to even me as an adult. If kids can easily peel something on their own, they are more likely to eat it. It’s also sweet.
Creamy Tomato Soup:
I noticed that kids loved things that they can dip something in. They can dip nuggets in BBQ sauces, French fries in ketchup and bread in tomato soup. They can also very much hate tomatoes but love the tomato soup.
Strawberries:
I actually never met a kid that didn’t love strawberries but I guess it’s possible. More likely than not, it will be one of their favorite and top fruit choices.
Carrots:
I know you’re probably thinking that I just told you to think beyond these simple vegetables, but hear me out. Carrots taste amazing when they are cooked and seasoned. It’s not always about the food but rather how it’s prepared.
Cabbage:
Cabbage is a pleasant surprise for kids because when they look at it, they automatically think it’s going to taste like much of nothing, similar to lettuce but then are filled with a pleasant surprise when they found out there’s some sweetness to it.
Brown Rice:
Rice is obviously a hit no matter how old you are but doing something as simple as just switching out white rice for brown rice will make your child’s meal much healthier.
Asparagus:
Asparagus for kids is like a vegetable french fry especially if you give them something to dip it in. I am not sure the taste is the reason behind it being a kid favorite as much as I am sure it’s because of the way they can hold it.
